Not Just For Black Women – Grants For Minority Females
It is a common misconception amongst the American population that minority women’s funding is only available to black women. Grants for minority women cover a much larger spectrum of races, heritages, and ethnic groups. While African American women do indeed fall into the minority category, they are by far not alone in this grouping.
Besides black women, grants for minority women are also available to women of several other descents. Within the minority groupings are Asians, Koreans, Latino or Hispanics, Native Americans, and in some regions of the United States, Polish and Russian American citizens. As a matter of fact, just being a woman, of any heritage or race, is qualification enough (as far as the US government is concerned) to be considered a minority.
Minority women’s grants are offered to American ladies for a great number of interesting and beneficial purposes. There are federal grants and financial aid available to American women to assist in utility payments, housing assistance, establishing women owned and operated businesses, health care, child care, and dozens upon dozens of other reasonable purposes. There are billions of dollars in free government money distributed yearly in minority womens college grants alone.
In the specific cases of black women, grants are often awarded by private foundations that cater specifically to those of African American decent. One of the most well known free grant programs of this caliber is the United Negro College Fund. This organization coined the popular phrase, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”. But again, be advised that African American women are not the only fortunate gals to be eligible for women minority grants.
